Why are americans afraid to admit that human rights are simply a concept not in actual reality?

I am so glad I run on instinct as my defense mechanism but it doesn't mean I have a lust for blood that enjoys murder and torture, I am not a complete spirit killing b@stard like some. And not a Republican in this case or any other extreme right wing nut job from America, not a bully nor Liberal neither, just a pacifist. And one who would only attack to defend oneself under desperate circumstances. Say for instance, someone started shooting at my house, well hopefully I would have used my highly intuitive perception would have seen this coming beforehand and therefore be prepared with whatever is required, if intelligent dialogue is impossible.
