I want to build a Morse Code Telegraph (Transmitter and Receiver) . How would I do this?

I want to build a Telegraph that is actually usable. I have some friends that live about 2-4 miles away. I wanted to learn how to make a telegraph then make some for my friends because i think that would be cool and creative way to talk.I don't want one made out of like cardboard and tinfoil like all the home project versions. So, what is a good tutorial how to make a good working Morse Code Telegraph (Transmitter and Receiver) ?
